As a Utah native Brian loves the outdoors and is an avid skier. Brian first discovered photography while vacationing in Alaska. Photography changed the way he saw the world and the world wanted to see what he saw. Brian founded Smyer Image in 2008 and he has been sharing his point of view through photography with us ever since.
“I bought a decent dslr and a couple lenses to take with me on the trip. Both the control over my pictures and the instant gratification of seeing the picture on the camera had me hooked. Since that trip to Alaska I've spent almost every waking hour as a student of light, photography, post production and people. I've loved every second of it.” ~Brian Smyer
Brian credits his 18 year career in the automotive industry as a major influence on his work ethic and people skills. He feels very grateful to be working on his second successful career and believes in giving back to the community. You can often find Brian donating his time and photography to good causes. He has worked with Continue Mission, The National Ability Center, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ching Farm Animal Sanctuary and Tracy Aviary. He would tell you community service is one of the keys to happiness and that he’s actually being selfish by paying it forward.
Although he will tell you he is more proud of his positive client reviews on google, Brian’s photography has been featured in many national and international blogs and magazines including: People, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, Rocky Mountain Bride, Bitchless Bride and the Knot.
