This is not a photo shoot
It's a portrait experience built around your family, your home, and your walls.
The Intro Call
It starts with a conversation.
A short call, easy and unhurried. I'll ask about your family. Who you are, what your home feels like, what season of life you're in. I'll walk you through everything: the session, the reveal, the artwork, the investment. You'll know exactly what to expect before you commit to anything.
No pressure. No expectation to buy. If we're a good fit, we plan your session. Right on the call, or at a time that works better.
The Planning
Every session is designed, not booked.
I hand-pick your location based on your family, not a list of usual spots. We time it for the best light of the day. We talk through clothing, the mood you want, and the walls in your home that are waiting for something worth hanging.
By the time we shoot, nothing is left to chance except the good stuff.
The Session
Then we go make something.
Golden hour light. A location chosen for you. And no stiff posing. I photograph the way your family actually is. The kid who can't stand still. The teenager who warms up slowly. The way you look at each other when nobody's performing.
It's easier than you think. Most families tell me it didn't feel like a photo shoot at all. That's the point.
The Keepsake Box
Your images, in your hands.
Before the reveal, your portraits are printed as a boxed set of 4x6 prints. Real photographs you can hold, sort, and pass around the table. Not thumbnails on a screen.
This is where most families slow down for the first time.
Something changes when you hold a photograph instead of scrolling past it.
The Reveal
Then I bring your family home.
We meet at your house. Your portraits are projected onto your own walls, at real size, right where they could live. Above the couch. Down the hallway. You'll see exactly what your family looks like as art before a single thing is printed.
No guessing at sizes. No pressure to decide fast. Most families sit quietly for a minute the first time an image goes up. That minute is why I do this.
The Art
What you keep.
Canvas wraps. Framed pieces. Heirloom albums with pages your grandkids will turn. Every piece is chosen at the reveal and designed around your home. Digital files come with the artwork you order, so your images live on your walls and in your hands. Not just in your phone.
“I would highly recommend Smyer Image for any and every session. You won't be disappointed.”
— Heather Lund
Your walls are waiting
The first step is a call. Fifteen minutes, no pressure, just a conversation about your family.
