We Plan the Session Together

The right location, clothing, timing and approach all matter.

So we plan them before your session.

I help you choose a location that fits your family and the look you want.

We talk about clothing so everyone looks coordinated without looking like they are wearing uniforms.

We choose the best time for the light.

Most importantly, we make a plan that gives your family room to be yourselves.

The goal is not to manufacture perfect behavior.

It is to create photographs that feel like your family.

Then We Make the Photographs

This is the part everyone expects.

We meet at the location and make the photographs.

There will be portraits where everyone is looking at the camera.

There will also be movement, interaction and the little moments that happen between the poses.

I guide you when you need direction.

I step back when you don't.

Then We Go Home

We meet for an in-home reveal.

This is one of the biggest differences between a Smyer Image experience and a traditional photography session.

During the reveal, I project your portraits onto your actual walls at their intended size.

Now you can see them in context.

You can see what a 24x36 portrait really looks like above your sofa.

You can see how a smaller collection works together.

You can see which photograph makes you stop and look.

That is difficult to understand from a gallery on a computer.

Your home changes the way you see the photograph.

We Choose What Belongs in Your Home

You do not need to choose from hundreds of files and then figure out what to print later.

We look at the photographs together.
