What Happens After Your Family Photo Session?

For most photographers, the experience ends when the camera goes away.

The photographs are edited.

A gallery is uploaded.

You receive a link.

For Smyer Image, that's not the end.

It's the point where the photographs finally become something you can experience.

Your photographs are carefully selected

A family session can produce a lot of photographs.

You don't need to sort through every frame I took.

I go through the session and select the photographs that tell your family's story best. I'm looking for the expressions, connections and moments that are worth keeping.

The goal isn't to give you the most photographs possible.

It's to give you the right photographs.

You get to hold your photographs

Once your photographs are ready, I bring a curated set of 4x6 prints to your home.

This is intentional.

A printed photograph feels different from a photograph on a screen.

You can hold it.

Turn it over.

Lay the photographs next to each other.

Pick up one and hand it to someone else.

You can see which images make you stop.

We look at them in your home

Your home is where these photographs will ultimately live, so that's where I want you to experience them.

During the in-home reveal, we look through your photographs together.

There isn't a sales presentation waiting behind the curtain.

You've already seen your photographs.

You've already had a chance to enjoy them.

The reveal simply gives you a better way to decide what you want to do with them.

You can see your photographs on your actual walls

If you are interested in artwork, I can project your portraits onto your walls at their finished size.

This changes the decision completely.

You don't have to look at a tiny image on a computer and try to imagine what a 24x36 portrait would look like above your sofa.

You can actually see it there.

You can decide whether the size feels right.

You can see how the photograph works with the room.

You can move from imagining it to knowing.

Artwork is optional

There is no requirement to purchase wall art.

You don't have to choose a canvas because you had a session.

You don't have to buy an album because you came to the reveal.

If you love your 4x6 prints and that's all you want, that's completely fine.

If you see a portrait that deserves a place on your wall, we can create something for your home.

The choice is yours.

This is why I don't send a gallery link

A gallery is convenient.

It is also very easy to forget.

You open it on your phone.

You scroll through the photographs.

You pick a few favorites.

You tell yourself you'll come back later.

Eventually, another notification appears.

Another week goes by.

The photographs are still there, but the moment has passed.

I wanted to create an experience that makes the photographs harder to ignore.

You see them.

You hold them.

You experience them in the place where they will eventually live.

What happens next matters

The photographs you take today become more valuable as time passes.

Your children grow.

Your family changes.

Your home changes.

The photograph doesn't.

That is why I don't think family photography should be about simply delivering files.

The real question is what happens to those photographs after the session.

At Smyer Image, I want them to become part of your life.

Something you see every day.

Something your children grow up seeing.

Something that reminds you of this particular version of your family long after the session is over.

Your family deserves to live on your walls, not in your phone.

If you're ready to create photographs you'll actually experience after the session, let's talk.
